Edventures Lab

Edventures Lab

dana-199x300The program is for students grades 4 through 12.

WHAT IS THE EDVENTURESLAB PROGRAM?
We offer Classes and Camps. Our classes are 75 minutes and students attend once a week, just like music lessons. During their class they will be introduced to important topics and concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math. Over half the class is for students to pursue hands-on robotics, engineering, and more in the PCS Badge System – our adaptive learning framework!

WHAT DO STUDENTS STUDY?
Students naturally acquire skills and a deeper understanding of math and science as they work in a number of different areas such as mechanical engineering, architecture and structural engineering, robotics, electronics, computer programming, 3D modeling, and digital media. Hands-on activities such as building gear trains, constructing robots, or programming computers naturally encourages the application of real-world math and science concepts. Our classes focus on important foundation knowledge in areas of computer science, physics, engineering, and technology.

WHEN DOES THIS HAPPEN?

Class sessions are year round and students can join anytime – we’ve made it flexible to accommodate busy schedules. Our class times vary depending on the time of year so check our scheduling page. Enrollment is open and students can start at any time.

Camps are short-term, usually during school breaks.

HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAM?

The EdventuresLab program and curriculum is designed to be experienced over a period of years – like attending a technical institute on a weekly basis. Developing a deep understanding of STEM topics and how they interrelate requires time and experimentation. A big part of mastery involves failure, so students learn a great deal when their bridge collapses, their wheels come off, or their program doesn’t work. This is how we build perseverance – an important habit of mind – but this takes time.

To accommodate busy schedules, it is possible for students to drop out for a busy sporting season or summer trip, but they can always come back and continue where they left off. The Badge System, our adaptive learning framework, enables this flexibility. Students who attend for three or four years will have been exposed to hundreds of hours of science, technology, engineering, and math activities and concepts. PCS students enjoy access to materials, resources, and experiences typically unavailable, and the result is a student well grounded in technology and science and well prepared with real world problem solving skills.

HOW MUCH IS IT TO PARTICIPATE?

PCS developed this program to be family friendly and flexible. We understand the challenge of juggling soccer, lacrosse, piano, dance, school, and more. Because of that, we have made it easy to participate. Call to register for a scheduled class time.  Students attend Lab once a week.

  • $125 / month for the once-a-week program
  • $25 / one-time registration fee (shirt, USB drive, and registration)

HOW DO I REGISTER?

It’s simple, check the schedule and follow the instructions. Contact Us if you have questions.
